Ayyampara is a scenic picnic spot sprawled over 100 acres of rocky plains, 43 km from Kottayam. The flat rock makes a natural granite stadium. It is an excellent point for sunset viewing.

     St. Alphonsa Church, Bharananganam 

Bharananganam is an important Christian pilgrimage centre. It is the place where the mortal remains of Saint Alphonsa (1916-1946) is interned, in a Chapel next to the St. Mary's Church. The ancient church contains an attractive Grotto of Virgin Mary.

An important Hindu pilgrimage centre, located 17 km from Kottayam, Ettumanoor is famous for the 16th century Siva Temple and for the ten days festival in February / March. The inner and outer walls of the temple are decorated with exquisite sculptures and murals depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.

Elaveezhchapoonchira is a picnic spot accessible from Pala and located in the midst of beautiful hillocks, about 3000 ft. above sea level.

Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkady, sprawled over an area of 777 sq.km, is an example of nature’s bounty - a great scenic charm and rich bio diversity with a repository of rare, endemic and endangered flora and fauna. The picturesque Periyar lake is at the heart of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Kottayam, at a distance of about 114 km from Periyar, is the nearest railhead.
